Granite

Granite is hard (6–7 on Mohs scale) and works best with a harder resin bond. If the bond is too soft, the pad wears too quickly. If too hard, it may not cut effectively. Marble

Polishing stone is a progressive process. Each grit step removes the scratches left by the previous one. Skipping steps can leave visible marks on the finished surface.

What grit sequence?

Starting from raw stone → 7-step (50–3000). Maintenance polish → 400–3000. Removing specific scratches → start at 100 or 200. Restoring gloss only → 1500 + 3000.

What diameter?

Standard sizes: 3 inch (75mm), 4 inch (100mm), 5 inch (125mm). Check your backer pad size. 4 inch is common for hand grinders.

How much polishing do you do?

Occasional use → standard pads. Daily production → pads with higher diamond concentration may last longer per set.

Can I use the same pads on granite and marble?
